Brisbane to Sydney

Jump on the Share Bus from to travel from Brisbane to Sydney in a really fun way. Travel with a bunch of other backpackers between two iconic cities, with beautiful places in between.

You’ll see some really famous beaches, while also staying in National Parks where you can see the rainforest. Swim, surf, kayak and hike throughout nature as you travel along the coastline, stopping at beaches and amazing locations. You’ll see Newcastle, Coff’s Harbor, Port Macquarie as well as all the beautiful nature around. Try out surfing on the Gold Coast, and spend a few days in hippy Byron Bay and maybe even join in a drum circle. Finally, on the last day head into Sydney to celebrate your arrival with your new trip family

Expect to get fit with lots of hiking, snorkeling and exercise as you appreciate the natural sights. This is a no-frills adventure – you’ll be setting up your own tents, sharing the driving, cooking your own dinner and sharing your tent with 1-2 others. The target age group is 18-35.

Please note this is a minibus rental, not a guided tour. You rent a seat on the bus. We provide a recommended itinerary to help guide you. You are all sharing the driving, cooking and trip planning (but you have a comprehensive guidebook to help) You will rent your seat as either a ‘driver’ or ‘non-driver’. Non-drivers must never drive. Drivers can share driving and must be aged 21+ Once you book you will be given a full guide with free activities, paid activities, recommended campsites to visit, as well as recommended sights to see. Please bring your own water bottle, sunscreen and torch. Be prepared for the tough weather! Please limit luggage to 20kg and two bags. Trip Highlights

  • Most accommodation: although you can choose to stay at plenty of free camps, or budget pay camps

Recommended itinerary

Day 01: Brisbane to Gold Coast

Meet the new crew, do a big food shop and make your way to the Gold Coast to get some beach time and maybe stop by Surfers Paradise. If you like you can get a headstart on the next day and drive towards Byron Bay

Day 02: Byron Bay

Byron Bay Byron Bay is a hippy coastal town, known for its beaches, surfing and diving. So spend some time beachside. Watch the sunrise from Byron Bay lighthouse, visit the drum circle that performs nightly, or try surfing and spotting dolphins at the pass

Day 03: Yamba and Grafton

Stop at Yamba on your way to Grafton. It is a beautiful coastal location with a nice beach and the ‘Angourie Pools’ which you can ‘cliff jump’ into (at your own risk) Then drive into the Clarence Valley. There’s some great river camps near Grafton, and you can spend a little bit of time exploring the colonial town.

Day 04: Dorrigo National Park and Coffs Harbor

Its time to explore the rainforest a little more at Dorrigo. Expect to see some beautiful rainforest and waterfalls. When you’re in the mood for more beaches head in to Coffs Harbor and take a photo with the ‘Big Banana’.

Day 05: Port Macquarie

Journey up to Port Macquarie to visit a town which is surrounded by both beaches AND rainforests. You can choose to spend some time in town, go for a hike, or check out the place where rainforest meets the beach at Sea Acres National Park. It’s the unofficial capital of bodyboarding, so try it out!

Day 06: Newcastle

In Newcastle itself are the natural ‘ocean baths’ (free!) and the ‘Bogeyhole’ which are a lot of fun. Go on the coastal walk, or enjoy a little beach time; then set up camp for the night.

Day 07: Central Coast to Sydney

Spend the morning in Newcastle, and then check out any nice beaches around the central coast before heading into Sydney to celebrate the end of the trip
