What we do

We’re not a tour. We’re a little bit different: we’re a shared rental.

Imagine sharing a road trip with a group of other backpackers, stopping wherever you like. Making your own decisions. You’ve got everything you need for camping, cooking and fun and every night you camp and enjoy a meal together (and a few cheeky drinks) under amazing starry skies. The stars are so good because there’s no light from any cities when you are in the middle of nowhere.

This is us, Share Bus. We help travellers like you go on flexible, affordable, self-guided camping road trips. We rent out our minibus and trailers full of camping, (glamping) and cooking equipment to a group of backpackers to do road trips. The start and end dates are fixed, but the route is totally flexible!

We are a rental company and we are part of myOZexp.

More than Share Bus, we also manage 2 hostels in Perth, convert vans to campervans and manage some share houses in Perth as well. So contact us if you need any of these!

Who we are

We are Marco and Jade, plus a few helpers around the country who help us prepare for trips. We started Share Bus in July 2018, with our old 1999 Toyota Hiace “Betty”. Now Betty has retired, and we have upgraded to 4 much newer Toyota Hiace, as we’ve continued to learn, grow and improve. And we have plans for more buses as well!

We are both travellers ourselves. Marco is Italian and first came to Australia in 2012 on a working holiday Visa. After a lot of hard work he managed to get sponsored and stay in Australia as an engineer, but now works on his own projects, like Share Bus and running a hostel in Perth.

Jade is from Perth, Australia and spent a lot of time travelling after finishing university. Jade used to work in Community Services and teaching. However, now she works full time on Share Bus and teaches piano occasionally.

Why did we start Share Bus? I guess we thought there was a better way. We think young travellers today are looking for ways to be more independent and flexible than what traditional tours offer. We thought we could help them do that in a way that still provided what they needed, and allow them the opportunity to travel in a group.

What you get

We are taking the minibus around Australia, so check out our trips to see where we are at the moment. We have all the equipment for camping, safety, cooking and fun in the bush. We also include the fuel, consumable items like cleaning stuff, insurance, roadside assistance and national park entry with your rental.

You only need a regular C Class license or equivalent as it is a 12 seat minibus. Driving is optional.

Our values
Leave No Trace. We love the outdoors, so pretend you were never there. Please pick up all your rubbish!
Respect. Respect the environment, respect each other and each other’s properties and respect the people whose land you are on.
Hard Work. No hotels here! Get ready for setting up camp, packing up camp and cooking your own food and cleaning up. Also lots of exercise and hiking. It’s all part of the experience.
